Everything Happens For The Better

I’m starting to think the algorithm has programmed much more than just our timelines. I suspect it has programmed us too. All of our collective will power is weakened. It feels pointless and dare I even say–dangerous to dream anymore. The election was a blatant example of how deep the mask and facade goes. So many of us got caught up in the hype. The smiling faces of the party we wanted to win were just a cover up for the nation’s shrieking screams within.

It does make me sad that the results didn’t pan out the way we’d hoped. However, the reality of the race reaffirmed what we already knew. The illusion of democracy is just that–an illusion. Now, genuine human connection feels like a far gone urban myth. The smiling faces make me cringe. The thought of trusting others completely feels–laughable.

The election was a promising external performance to cover up a deep, rooted permanent internal system. I saw a film yesterday that sparked a component of my awakening. John Carpenter’s “They Live” from 1988. There is one line from the movie that packaged all the confusion and false hope from the election for me. “Remember the Golden Rule– the people who make the gold, make the rules.”

Nothing has changed. Our nation has been conditioned to follow the money and the election results demonstrate a commitment to this trend. Now, more than ever, I am motivated to connect deeper to my power within. I have no clue what’s on the horizon for 2025 and beyond. However, what is unchanging is my internal moral compass forever fixed toward reaching higher ground. I’ve lived through enough presidencies to look back and reflect. No matter who is in that White House, I am the only person responsible for having my life in check.

Every empire has an expiration date. Who knows when America’s number will be called. Regardless of how long we will reign, my mission remains the same. I only want to do good, look good, spread good and be good. My dream is to leave this planet in a better condition that I found it. This election was a devastating blow for so many of us. But there is still reason to hold on to hope.

In moments of utter confusion like this when I was a little girl, my grandfather would always remind me that “everything happens for the better.” Right now, I have to pass that same wisdom nugget along in order for us to see the other side of these ballot results.

This is America. The same one we always knew. To a degree, Kamala’s campaign was right, “We’re not going back.” The truth is we never left. There’s no place to go back to because Christopher Columbus’ ship is still parked on the same dock. The forefathers who founded this country still rule from beyond the grave. Their lineage lives on and their descendants still own the place. I take solace in knowing my ancestors aren’t sleep or forgotten either.

Balance will be restored in due time. We may not rule from the Oval Office but, honey we are still in charge. My desire is that we still keep hope alive. Let’s anchor to our personal power, since that’s the only real power that exists. I trust that everything can change overnight. This is far from over. As the French would say, “Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.”
